A Part of my Dreams
The children at The Pan de Vida Children’s Home in Mexico City are very special to me. They have filled me with a force and desire to live. Their eyes reflect the need to be loved and the excitement of knowing that God has
something prepared for them.
Before coming to this foster group home, these children dealt with many difficult situations. Although they are fragile, they are also strong. Like little Eduardo, a 4-year-old boy, who always sings “there are reasons to live.”
Working for Buckner has been a huge blessing in my life. Here, I found the dreams I longed for but forgot for a while. I learned God is faithful and He does not forget our dreams.
Here, I have seen how the things I love are intertwined: working with people who love God, working as a biologist on the Hydroponic program and helping children who have a hard life. I thank God for this; I never thought He would bring me here.
My way of understanding life has changed. I’m not so selfish about what happens to me, or what I want. Now I know that there are children who are suffering and that there are people who need to know the love of God. I know that God can reach them through us and that we can help them achieve their dreams. These children are now a part of my dreams and I want to help them meet their own!
Lidia Juan Chimal is our Hydroponic program leader in “Pan de Vida” foster group home in México City. She has been working with our children for almost a year.
Prayers for the week:
- God, help us share in your dreams and help us work to help vulnerable and orphans reach their full potential.
- God, thank you that your plans for us, for your faithfulness and for your guidance and presence throughout our lives.
