A Ministry of Hope
There is an old saying that cannot be linked to any one author, yet many say it goes something like this:
“People may not remember exactly what you did, or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel. Remember that what you do echoes in eternity.”
Unfortunately, we often leave off that last sentence of the quote, “Remember that what you do echoes in eternity.” But isn’t that the ultimate message?
I see the ministry of Buckner working to provide every aspect of this quote, leaving an undying impression on every life they touch.
Many times, I have watched them make a difference by building a new home for a family in the Valley, digging a water well in Kenya or placing shoes on a child’s feet so they may go to school.
Buckner families provide hope and a future to children they parent in foster care, and in forever homes through adoption.
Regardless of the mission, the ministry’s emphasis is always placed on knowing and experiencing God’s love, compassion and eternal plan for our lives.
From day one, Father Buckner’s message of true religion came from James 1:27, saying take care of “the least of these.” I pray for my heart and yours to always love others, and to be obedient in showing Christ’s love for children and families.
Denese Thetford is a gift officer for Buckner in West Texas.
- God, bless the work that Buckner does for hurting children and families.
- God, be with the volunteers that offer their time and energy to minister to others. Renew their energy and strength and let them be an inspiration.
