Will I Use What I’ve Learned?

June the 19th, 2003,
An ordinary day, oh no, not for me!

The big 40 is the age that I turned,
And I thought, “Oh, dear Lord, will I used what I’ve learned?”

As I stood in the shower, all these thoughts in my head,
I heard what God told me, I heard what He said.

I’ve taught you so much, I’ve showed you my ways,
Will you use all you’ve learned in the rest of your days?

If you live to be 80 or 90 or more,
Half of your life is still in store.

And if life’s not that long, no fear should there be.
Eternal life you are promised when you come live with me.

You don’t want regrets. There are no reversals.
This is life, my child, not a rehearsal.

I dried myself off, and I sat on my bed,
And more of these thoughts ran though my head.

Be anxious for nothing, the Bible is clear,
Have faith in this and live life with no fear.

No matter the devil, no matter his taunt,
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.

My burden is light; easy is my yoke.
I’ll walk from the fire and not smell like smoke.

No money, no job, no family, no foe,
Our dear, precious savior, He’s in control.

I will learn to be content in all that I do,
In day-to-day life and in things that are new.

In the tongue is the power of life or death
So I’ll watch what you say, with every breath.

As Christians our faith must always be bold.
The rewards of this are promised to us tenfold.

Remember to forgive 70 times seven,
A great way to store up treasures in heaven.

Rejoice in the Lord, I say, always rejoice.
To do this is one’s everyday choice.

Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John
Genesis, Revelation, Proverbs, and Psalms.

The word in the Bible is a must-read,
For this is where we can get our seed.

Now you can’t just live life by the words of this poem,
You must spend time with God, you must get to know him.

So I’ll take up my cross and follow Him
And do my best to live life without sin.

And when my life here is finished, oh, God, here I come.
I pray I will hear, “Faithful servant, well done.”
